When and How to Use Strength Training
Strength is the physical characteristic that forms the basis for all other aspects of physicality.
You can be more powerful in metabolic conditioning workouts if you are stronger. You can perform more powerful and fast lifts in a skill if you have a larger basis of strength.
The problem is that strength is frequently programmed in a less than ideal way or combined sub-optimally with other exercises.
There are six big movement patterns in which we want to build strength: Upper body push, upper body pull, squat, hip hinge, lunge, and carrying.
There are variations of each of these patterns that you can cycle through in a training schema to maximize your gains and minimize injury.
Tomorrow we will be discussing the basics of hypertrophy training.
Until then,
