Hip Variations & Squat Stance
<iframe src="https://player.vimeo.com/video/248422650" width="640" height="360" frameborder="0" webkitallowfullscreen mozallowfullscreen allowfullscreen></iframe>
Points to note in this video:
- Hips structurally aren’t all the same
- The things to try varying are width and degree of toe out
- Some athletes will naturally have a different stance due to structure
- You don’t know just by looking at someone. You have to see them move
Rock Back Test
<iframe src="https://player.vimeo.com/video/248422666" width="640" height="360" frameborder="0" webkitallowfullscreen mozallowfullscreen allowfullscreen></iframe>
Points to note in this video:
- Use the rock back test to see if there is a limitation in hip joint mobility
- Sometimes people can’t pass this test because they don’t hold their back tight
- There shouldn’t be pinching in the hips with this. If there is, don’t stretch into the position
Tactical Frog Stretch
<iframe src="https://player.vimeo.com/video/248422667" width="640" height="360" frameborder="0" webkitallowfullscreen mozallowfullscreen allowfullscreen></iframe>
Points to note in this video:
- Tactical frog stretch can be useful
- It should be felt in the inner thigh muscles
- There should be no pinching in the hips
- A wall can help make it a more effective stretch
